When Margaret Anderson was born on 24 November 1835 in Inverness, Scotland, her father, Donald, was 31, and her mother, Margaret, was 38. A few short months later on the 4th January 1836 she was baptised in the same church at Croy and Dalcross that her parents had married in and her siblings and cousins had been baptised in.
An alphabetical list of the Emigrants by the ship Asia from Cromarty to Sydney; 17th September 1838 to 10th May 1839 listed Donald as being aged 34, Margaret (33), Ann (12), Samuel (10), John (7), Catherine (5) and Margaret (3).
The year after the family arrived in Sydney, young Margaret passed away in 1840. Her death is recorded in the Australia, Death Index, 1787-1985. We do not know what caused her to pass, but can only imagine how tragic it must have been for her family to lose her.
