Samuel (known as Pat) and Vera were married in 1920. Pat is mentioned in Australia’s Fighting Son’s of the Empire (page 105) which reads as follows: Corporal Samuel Leslie Anderson Army No. 2107.
Son of John and Elizabeth Anderson, of Mullumbimby, was born at Bellingen (NSW) and received his education at Tregeagle. He is 24 years of age, and enlisted in June 1915 at Lismore, going to camp at Enoggera (QLD). He sailed for Egypt on 20th September 1915 and after five months there was sent to France, where he took part in nearly all of the big engagements, including Pozieres, Bullecourt, Agincourt and Messines.
Army No: 2107 T./Cpl, Pat Anderson won the M M on the 2nd September 1918 at Mt St Quentin, north east of Peronne, France. Pat’s ashes were scattered at Woronora, NSW. There is a plaque in his name on the Honour Roll at Beverly Hills Memorial Bowls Club, Sydney, NSW. Pat and Vera had a family of five children:
